Our Teachers

The Falmouth Corner Preschool is staffed with two extradordinary teachers who are the epitome of patience and grace. On a typical day, both teachers and one parent will be in the classroom, lending to an excellent student/adult ratio.

Ms. Elizabeth, Co-Teacher

Ms. Elizabeth has a Master's Degree in Early Childhood Education from Wheelock College.  She has worked in both administrative and teaching roles in various settings for more than 25 years. She was the teacher/director at Portland Nursery School, a cooperative preschool in Portland, for seven years.  When the school, sadly, was closed in 2019, Ms. Elizabeth took a job teaching preschool at Birchwood Day Nursery until the pandemic shut things down.  Since then, she's been subbing in early childhood classrooms. She's very excited to get back to a classroom of her own!

In addition to teaching, Ms. Elizabeth owns an Early Childhood Consulting company, is an approved trainer for Maine Roads to Quality, and is a Professional Development Specialist for the Council for Professional Recognition, which awards the Child Development Associate Credential. She is also a literacy tutor, freelance writer, and ballroom dance instructor.

A note from her: "I believe that all children and families need to be supported in ways that work for them.  I believe that children learn best through play, with plenty of hands-on opportunities for exploration and discovery.  I believe that social-emotional learning is the foundation for all other learning.  I am so excited to work with the families at Falmouth Corner Preschool!"

Ms. Jill, Co-Teacher

Ms. Jill comes to us from Hingham, Massachusetts, where she served as the beloved pre-k/kindergarten teacher for 18 years in an “arts” integrated preschool that emphasized early immersion in art, music, drama, movement and scientific exploration. In addition to Ms. Jill’s teaching experience, she holds a master’s degree in early childhood education from Wheelock College and a Massachusetts teaching license preschool-3rd grade. She has taught various professional development workshops about arts integration in literacy, math and science for early childhood educators. She has published articles about implementing a multiple intelligence approach in the classroom, as well as the benefits of  teaching and learning in a multiage environment.

Ms. Jill's passion is reading to children and creating deep connections to literature through art, music and play! Ms. Jill resides in their happy place on Sebago Lake with her mom, son, and black lab and she enjoys all outdoor activities during every season!

A note from her: “I believe that a child’s early introduction to education is about creating a caring community of learners, where the environment honors all family traditions, validates every student’s developmental journey and interests, and fosters a lifelong love of learning and respect for the world around them!"
