Curriculum

FCP incorporates meaningful themes into the classroom environment through the use of centers throughout the room.

Writing Center

Children can practice using print to communicate through the use of paper, envelopes, pencils, crayons, stamps, and markers. They might be found making tickets, a shopping list or a stop sign!

Science Center

Children can explore the natural world with a display of shells, rocks or leaves. We use magnifying glasses to get a closer look.

Book Corner

Children are free to look at literature and incorporate what they see into their experience at school... "Hey, look at that castle, let's go try and build it in the block area!"

Art Area

Children have the opportunity to creatively express themselves through various materials. The process is the focus, not the product. "I wonder what we can do with these feathers......?"

Literature-Based Learning

Each day we will read a book related to our current theme and do a project related to the literature. We encourage the children to make a meaningful connection to the story and foster a life long love of books.

Math Curriculum

FCP integrates math skills and building activities into all areas of the classroom. During circle, we might graph the weather. We will measure ingredients while cooking and explore concepts such as weight and capacity at the sensory table. "How many scoops does it take to fill up this container? How about halfway?" Opportunities to build math skills and vocabulary are abundant in our classroom.

Dress Up Area

Children can explore what it is like to be a mom, dad, cook, dancer or farmer. By creating their own play scenarios, children learn to work together.

History of Falmouth Corner Preschool

Having been a licensed co-operative preschool for over 35 years, the Falmouth Corner Preschool (formally known as the Falmouth Corner Co-Op) is an amazing community consisting of parents, teachers, children, and alumni.

Family Expectations

Each family is expected to work in the classroom approximately 1-2 days a month (contributing to the excellent student: adult ratio). A working parent gets hands-on experience and gains an appreciation of their developing child. It is a great opportunity to get to know the children's classmates and their parents.

In addition to working in the classroom, each family serves on 1 committee, attends two mandatory board meetings, provides a snack for the class 3 weeks/year, volunteers to help with field trips, and supports yearly fundraisers.

Committees at FCP:

  • Board of Directors:  Two Co-Presidents, Treasurer, Secretary
  • Marketing Director
  • Calendar Coordinator
  • Fundraising Committee
  • Extracurricular Committee (Field Trips, Parties)
  • Community Outreach Committee
  • Recognition Manager

Tuition:

The yearly tuition, registration fee, and craft fee are recommended by the Board of Directors and approved by the parents at the annual meeting.  Monthly tuition is due on the 2nd of each month or can be paid in bulk amounts.

We are proud to award a scholarship based on need covering tuition and fees.  Please contact the Board of Directors for an application.

Non-Discrimination Policy

The Falmouth Corner Preschool is an equal opportunity preschool.

The Falmouth Corner Preschool admits students of any race, color, national and ethnic origin to all the rights, privileges, programs, and activities generally accorded or made available to students at the school. It does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national and ethnic origin in administration of its educational policies, admissions policies, scholarship, and other school-administered programs.
